Life is so short and it is meant to be lived to the ultimate. Our precious planet has many exotic destinations. One of the most gratifying ways I have found to explore this rich earth is to discover it by boat, just like the great Vikings did.
The Cunard Cruise Lines are your canvas and your paint brush is her destiny.
My favorite vessel that The Cunard family have created for us mere mortals is the Queen Mary 2. The decadence, eloquence and pure bubble fantasy will truly make you feel like you have died and gone to heaven. This is a brief overview of what the Cunard has to offer, but I defy you to find anything closer to paradise.
The Ship
The Queen Mary 2 is the grandest of vessels. Her bold lines and steel curves echo the romantic period of ocean travel. There are 14 enormous decks, numerous dining rooms, a ball room and a theater. The Queen Mary 2 houses the most unique treasure as well, its very own planetarium. Her most popular feature is her 7 day Transatlantic Cruise from Southampton to New York. The shining queen is more than twice as long as the Washington Monument and as long as 41 London buses. She holds 2,620 guests and travels at 28 knots.
Destinations
The Queen Mary 2 gives you the option of booking a small 3 day journey all the way up to a 25 day plus exotic voyage. You may chose to take a Caribbean cruise that also visits the Mexican Riviera and the Panama Canal. Or set sail to Scandinavia, The Baltic and Iceland. While your at it why not just take a trip around the world, the skies is the limit. logistics company
Accommodations
The Queens Grill Suites are among the most opulent on board any luxury liner on the planet. The perks are endless and begin before you even step foot on board with priority check in. When you arrive your personal butler will greet you with a bottle of champagne and strawberries. You get to dine privately instead of the traditional “family style” table. Booking with the Queens Grill suites also gets you access to private lounges and sun deck. You also have the option of room service from the Queens Grill Restaurant. Queens Grill is the most decadent of all the accommodations however you can still feel like a member of the Royal Family with Britannia State room. They compare it to a deluxe quest room and it also includes your own private restaurant, The Britannia. There are several other rooming choices for your cruising pleasure.
Relax or Revitalize
The Queen Mary 2 is indeed its own country there are so many ways to enjoy yourself by the time you decide your trip will be over. If you want to zone out with soft music there is a string quartet in the lobby and an orchestra in The Queens Room. Visit the library with over 8000 books and stunning ocean views. When all else fails give in to The Canyon Ranch Spa and get yourself a massage. If slowing it down is not your thing try out one of the 5 swimming pools or try your swing at the golf simulator. There are also fitness classes, tennis courts, a full gymnasium and ballroom dancing lessons. Children are welcome and are also provided with a special play area and tons of daily activities.
Entertainment and Nightlife
Churchill’s Cigar Bar has an endless selection of cigars paired with hard to find Cognacs, Single Malt Scotch Whiskey and Plantation Rums. On the other side of the ship is The Commodore Club offering a wide variety of martini’s. They even offer martini mixing classes and whiskey tastings. G32 is a dual level nightclub where they host theme nights from the 60’s through the 90’s. If you want to kick back and be casual The Lion Club has Darts, karaoke, live sports and pale ale. They will even serve you up a traditional pub lunch of fish & chips. There are also nightly shows and a casino on board.
National Symphony Orchestra Transatlantic Crossing
This has to be the cherry on the top of a mighty sweet cake. Bedfellows on the Eastbound Transatlantic Crossing will be invited to partake in a once in a lifetime chance to sing with a National Symphony Orchestra on the stage of the Royal Court Theater on board Queen Mary 2. Guests will be able to be part of rehearsals with the Conductor, Anthony Inglis. and co-star in a production that honors the Cunard Ship.
